Willow Innovations

Willow Innovations changed the game for moms everywhere when they launched its first mobile and hands-free, breast pump in 2017.

In 2018, I was a second-time mom and needed a way to pump on the go. I was introduced to Willow and immediately bought into the concept and purchased my first generation set of pumps.

Even better, they had a mobile application that could track my pumping history.

The issue? The app wasnโ€™t providing me with the information I needed. I reached out to Willow CTO within weeks of using the product and started working with them just a few short months later.

Since working with Willow Innovations, weโ€™ve launched several software updates compatible with new pump offerings and a redesign that makes a momโ€™s experience seamless and focused.

Get Started

When moms first enter the application they have to create an account and set up a profile for the child theyโ€™ll be pumping for. This information would allow Willow to cater to their experience to the mom in the 2020 redesign.

Pairing

Willow has an interesting use case for pairing since there are more than one hardware variation in the market. The edge cases may only affect a small number of users, but building them out was crucial as it is the first step a mom would encounter in using the pump for the first time.

Happy path for a user encountering pairing technology. Designed with internal testing in mind to show multiple devices for hardware providers.

Redesign completed by MetaLabs provided me with a UI kit that I was able to deploy across multiple use cases for each pump generation.

Pump Profiles

Willow is creating a new feature for release that allows a mom to select a profile for the pump which would change the pressure and velocity of pumping milk from a breast. I created a flow that allows a user to select a profile for both pumps or edit to allow different profiles per pump. This would ease the process for a mom who needed to accommodate output per day.
